Del Frisco’s offers elevated options for Mother’s Day Brunch

Friday, May 4, 2018 - 10:00am

Chicago restaurants offer seemingly endless options for Mother’s Day Brunch. One of the most elegant can be found at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse (58 East Oak Street). On Sunday, May 13 you can celebrate Mom with an elevated brunch featuring Prime Rib, Lobster Benedict, and Filet Benedict.

In addition to special items, the full menu (including their excellent prix fixe option) will be available. Del Frisco’s has a superior wine list to accompany their world-class cuisine. One of the most appealing things about dining at Del Frisco’s is their stunning décor. Del Frisco’s grand, recently refurbished dining room, with creative architectural elements throughout including the three-story wine tower, presents the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable Mother’s Day.

For Easter, another noteworthy brunch day, I was invited to sample their special brunch menu. I can attest that Del Frisco’s provides a top-notch experience – everything from service to ambiance to quality. Their wine list and available wine pairings are some of the finest in Chicago. The talented chefs are equally superb with seafood and with steaks.

Stand-out starters include their Thick-Cut Nueske’s Bacon Au Poivre, Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras, and Charred Octopus. The Lobster Bisque is one of the best I have tasted. My favorite sides are their Brussels Sprouts (smoked bacon, caramelized onions, lemon butter) and the Creamed Spinach (smoked bacon, egg, mushroom, aged sharp cheddar cheese sauce). Of course, at some point you must try their special Uptown Del's Potato (Melted fontina, chives & shaved truffle).

Any of the steaks or seafood options are going to be superior for an entrée, and they have some decadent desserts including a delightful Butter Cake, a Warm Banana Bread Pudding and their famous Del’s Delight (Nocello Walnut Liqueur, Créme de Cacao Chocolate Liqueur, Vanilla Ice Cream).

My only regret was that their new Esquire Champagne Room is not open on Sundays. I had a chance to tour this opulent new facility, though, and I can tell you that I will certainly be back. Visit the Esquire Champagne Room website for more information on how you can spend an elegant evening with champagne and caviar. The champagne room is open Tuesday – Thursday, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m.; Friday – Saturday, 6 p.m. – 12 a.m. and is located just one level above the restaurant.

Del Frisco’s is located at 58 East Oak Street. They are normally open Monday – Saturday, 5 p.m. – 11 p.m.; Sunday, 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. For Mother’s Day, they will open early for brunch at 11 a.m. For reservations, call (312) 888-2499 or visit their website. You can also follow their social media conversations on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
