Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille (5 Oakbrook Court, Oak Brook, IL 60523) welcomes in the new year with three new craft cocktails that are sure to warm up your winter. These delicious drinks are available beginning on January 15. Each of them has been carefully crafted to pair with is the restaurant’s bar bites menu. As a nod to the restaurant’s terrific wine list, two of the cocktails are wine-based.
The PassionNut for Port mixes Fonseca Bin27 Port with DonQ Coconut Rum, Passion Fruit puree and fresh pressed lemon juice, giving Chicagoans a tropical escape without leaving Oak Brook. The bright tropical flavors initially made me think “summertime drink,” but the addition of the Port and the flavor from the rum give this cocktail a depth that definitely holds up to wintry weather. Additionally, the cocktail’s vibrant color, romantic name and a dessert wine base makes it a sweet treat for Valentine’s Day celebrations. Pair with the Beef & Bleu for a mouthwatering balance of sweet and savory.
For a light and refreshing beverage, Rosé Collins delivers. The second wine-based cocktail mixes Botanist Gin with Rosé wine and fresh lemon juice. It is served with a stunning edible flower, so be sure to taste that. Perry’s suggests enjoying the Rosé Collins alongside its Bacon Wrapped Scallops. The savory, umami feel of the scallops offers an excellent contrast to the sparkling acidity of the cocktail. Again, like the PassionNut for Port, this cocktail would be perfect for summertime sipping but also makes a great wintertime treat to remind you that summer is on the way soon.
The third new cocktail is the Jameson Mocha Old Fashioned. A fun take on a classic Old Fashioned, this cocktail mixes Jameson Caskmates Irish Whiskey with house made coffee syrup and mole bitters. This one most definitely feels like a wintertime cocktail, something you would drink around a fire after a long day of skiing. The coffee and mole are subtle but bring a gorgeous depth to the drink with just enough coffee flavor. Ideal for warming up and waking up, it pairs perfectly with Perry’s Homemade Polish Sausage. Despite my passion for wine, I must admit that this was my favorite of the three – a perfect drink on a cold winter day.
