Generally I try to take advantage of what Chicago offers as much as possible (without overdoing it). It's half of the idea behind my website: helping Locals feel like Tourists.

My best friend drove up from Indianapolis to see me last night. She called me Tuesday to let me know she was coming up and I tell you, I was like a kid the night before leaving for Disney World.

HEADLINE: First Band Announced for ChicagoROX

OK, I am so excited about this I have to sit on my hands to keep from clapping. Which makes it really hard to type. So you know I must be excited.

Last night my friend and TLT contributor Jennifer and I went to the new McCormick & Schmick's at 1 E Wacker. Located in the former Nick & Tony's space, it's got fantastic patio real estate. Considering it was muggy, sticky and hot, we elected to dine inside.

And the crowd goes wild!!!

Why? Because there are about a gazillion bands in Chicago, and slightly fewer places to hear them.

So how do you narrow it down?

I don't know about you, but I used to get irritated every time I would visit my blog. There was no navigation structure and it just didn't fit in with the rest of the site. Plus I would post articles on different topics, but there was no way to categorize them.

Ta Da!!!!

Restaurants open (and close) in downtown Chicago at an incredible pace. In the next couple of weeks we'll have three new culinary choices in the heart of the city:

CPK/ASAP, 30 N LaSalle, (312)920-9662: A quicker version of California Pizza Kitchen with a smaller menu

I just got back from the library.

August 7 is The Local Tourist Day at Lavazza! Click here for coupon.

It's a perfect Friday evening. There's a light breeze off the lake. It's not even strong enough to tussle my hair into my face. From the rooftop of my building the city is quiet and peaceful.

If you're the type of person who'd rather see the sites on your own instead of tagging along with a group, you're in luck. Last week I mentioned that the Chicago Loop Alliance has created audio tours of downtown Chicago.

When a member of a band has a heart attack three weeks before a show, you're not quite sure what to expect.

Well, that's not quite true. You expect that there will be no show.

Unless it's Juzt Nutz. And this band is appropriately named. They're freakin' insane.

So I went to the candy expo last week which isn't open to the public but as a member of the press I was able to attend so I could tell you about all the cool new candy and gum and mints that are coming out and how the old standbys are holding up for example they had Sixlets and I didn't even know

The movie choices for this year's Outdoor Film Festival have been released.

Every Tuesday night from July 18 through August 29 you can bring your blanket and your picnic basket to Grant Park and enjoy watching familiar movies under the stars with the skyline in the background.

You can't help but love a diner. Especially when that diner gives you Milk Duds while you're waiting and a basket of donut holes makes its way around the restaurant.
