Thinking about joining a gym? Before you put down a hefty chunk of change, step into a Chicago Park District Fitness Center. You can sweat it out at 73 locations throughout the city for free January 9 through January 15. In addition to cardio and strength training equipment they've also got classes. Take spin, yoga, pilates and zumba classes and learn about nutrition. Have kids? They've got family friendly options, too. Twenty fitness centers also have lap swim times.
If you choose to sign up, fees start at just $17 a month, and if you purchase a Gold Card for $80 you'll have access to all fitness centers city-wide for three months. A year Gold Card is just $250. This year if you purchase a membership during Free Fitness Week you'll get a free water bottle and towel courtesy of POWERADE.
Visit the Chicago Park District's website for a complete list of fitness centers and to register.
