NFL’s First Ever Draft Town Touches Down in Chicago

This week marks an unprecedented event in both Chicago and NFL history. While the NFL draft has been in the Windy City before, the National Football League has never hosted a fan festival to accompany the occasion. Until now.

Beginning tomorrow, April 30, Grant Park will be known as Draft Town. The free fan festival aims to increase the excitement around one of the key moments in the professional football season with live music, food curated by Graham Elliot, and most importantly for the fans, free player autographs.

To get the most out of the event download the Fan Mobile Pass. With the app you’ll be able to:

  • Kick a field goal through NFL uprights
  • Take a photo with the Vince Lombardi Trophy at the Super Bowl pop-up museum
  • Run Like the Wind at the 40 yard dash
  • Receive FREE giveaways from NFL sponsor displays
  • Participate in NFL Play 60 FLAG football clinics (kids 6-14 only)

You can also fly like Walter Payton with the Sweetness Simulator, a sky-diving simulator that lets you pose like the great man himself.

The actual draft will take place on Thursday and Friday at nearby Auditorium Theatre (50 E. Congress Pkwy, Chicago, IL) and on Saturday within Draft Town itself. Saturday there will be concerts throughout the day with performances by Chicago’s own J.C. Brooks and the Uptown Sound, followed by Phillip Phillips.

If all of that isn’t enough to convince you to take a trip to Draft Town, here’s another incentive: if we get 100,000 people to visit between Thursday and Saturday, the NFL’s Senior Vice President of Peter O’Reilly will participate in next year’s Polar Plunge!
