As a frequent New England visitor I often miss its rustic charm, ocean breezes and delicious seafood. Fear not, fellow New England lovers, we need not feel deprived while in Chicago! Enter Oyster Bah, a casual New England inspired concept from Lettuce Entertain You, where the drinks are cold, the oysters are abundant, and the rest of the menu is wicked good! I happened upon it one Sunday-Funday on a stroll with my gal pal, between brunch and manicures, and we both fell instantly in love. Oysters are an appropriate post brunch dessert, am I right?
Between girl talk and cocktails and unbelievably fresh bivalves and crustaceans on display, I am hard pressed to pick what I enjoyed best. Maybe it was the decidedly New England-like rustic weathered atmosphere. But maybe it was the friendly, down to earth staff that took exceptionally great care of us. It is because of them that our Sunday afternoon sparkled. We slurped away on oysters, both East & West Coast, while our servers took time to carefully explain each flavor and texture profile. My friend is an oyster novice, but she was in capable hands!
We sampled shrimp and crab legs and chilled lobster. We sipped excellent house Bellini punch from tall ceramic cups adorned with lobsters. It was one of those perfect afternoons that only happen when they are unplanned. What IS planned however is our next trip to Oyster Bah. Imminent.
Moral of the story here is this: it doesn’t take much to make our Sunday-Funday over the top fantastic. A little champagne, a little brunch, a little pampering. But with the Oyster Bah in the mix, our future oysters for dessert dates look wicked good! Don’t take my word for it. Try for yourself.
Oyster Bah is located at 1962 N. Halsted in Lincoln Park. Walk-ins & reservations welcome.
