Look out and enjoy the “VU” on 22. A spectacular new destination comes to Chicago Monday, October 15 with the opening of VU, 133 East Cermak, the South Loop’s first rooftop bar presented by the James Beard nominated Concentrics Restaurant Group. Anticipated to be one of the hottest venues in the city, this sexy urban rooftop will feature some of the most unprecedented views of the Chicago skyline, overlooking both the lakefront and downtown. Located 22 stories above McCormick Place, VU Rooftop Bar touts 13,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor activation areas including a karaoke room, boardroom, club bar, and solarium bar. Designed for al fresco and indoor drinking, dining and lounging, the menu by highly acclaimed Executive Chef Nolan Narut (Bar Cargo/Stefani Prime, The Windsor/Crosby’s Kitchen/Ella Elli, The Waldorf Astoria Hotel) will focus on chef inspired, ingredient-driven shareable, social plates. Advanced Sommelier John Williams, formerly General Manager at Mercat a la Planxa, will develop the locally sourced beverage program.

Upon arrival, guests of VU Rooftop Bar are greeted by one of two striking, floor-to-ceiling light fixtures highlighting the space’s 15-foot ceilings. The interior is anchored by a sweeping 40 stool main bar, constructed as an island with a wood oven in the center. Accompanied by a series of custom 4-foot by 12-foot light fixtures adjacent to the entrance, a stunning video wall traverses the entire 100-foot length of the indoor space. The series of wow moments continue with an abstract mural created by nationally-renowned artist Todd Murphy titled “Hidden Figures.” An exposed kitchen with white marble and bleached walnut accents will serve the thoughtfully designed indoor seating area.

To the right of the entrance is the first of two breathtaking terraces that bookend VU. With soft seating and fire pits throughout, the East terrace features a year-round solarium bar surrounded by impressive glass walls that fully retract, showcasing the extraordinary views of Lake Michigan, Soldier Field, Northerly Island, and more. The West terrace offers guests the quintessential outdoor lounge and boasts an impressive water and fire fountain as a centerpiece, and views of Chicago’s iconic skyline as the backdrop.

Unique experiences for guests await at VU with several one-of-a kind areas available for planning private events. This multi-faceted space offers enjoyment for every type of gathering, from a karaoke room, to the board room and club bar, which opens back up to the West terrace by way of two glass walls, creating an unparalleled indoor and outdoor experience for guests to relish in. Even the bathrooms of the venue offer a unique experience, with mirrors covering the entire space from floor to ceiling and from wall to wall.

The hours of operation for VU are Sunday – Thursday 4 p.m. – 1 a.m., Friday and Saturday 4 p.m. – 2 a.m. and Brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Valet parking is available during all hours of operation for $16 up to three hours.
