Upon seeing this post your first question might be “why is The Local Tourist reviewing shoes”? Well, I’ll tell you. When I received an email asking me if I wanted to check out these puppies, my dogs were tired. In the month before I’d covered both Lollapalooza and North Coast Music Festival, two 3-day festivals that required lots and lots of walking and standing. There were even a couple of times at Lolla I’d gotten to the point where I just couldn’t walk any further.
So I ordered the Tevas and they arrived shortly before I made a whirlwind trip to the Quad Cities. I was a Local Tourist on steroids, trying to cover the area in less than 48 hours (story to come). That means, of course, that there was a lot of walking.
This time, my dogs didn’t bark. They just wagged their tail and waited at the door to go outside again.
Basically, I LOVE these shoes. They are the perfect accessory for touring a city or covering a concert. I have the “Teva Women’s Mush Frio MJ Mesh in Baton Rouge“, basically Mary Janes in fuschia and charcoal, and while they might not be the most stylish of shoes I own, they are certainly the most comfortable.
The sole is thick enough to protect your feet from bumps, crags, rocks, and speed bumps, and yet it’s pliable and light enough that you don’t feel like you’re dragging your carry-on by your ankles.
At $45 they’re pretty affordable, and Teva offers free shipping for (coincidentally) orders of $45 or more. If you prefer to try them on S&H Shoe Corporation/Alamo Shoes (5321 N Clark St, 773-784-8936) in Andersonville should have them on their shelves, but call them first to make sure.
You can expect to see more product reviews as we search for items that make being a Local Tourist fun, hassle-free, and even comfortable!
