Royster With The Oyster

Royster with the Oyster is Shaw’s Crab House’s week long celebration of the mollusk. As they say on their website, “there’s plenty of shuckin’ and slurpin’ with another round of stirrin’ and shakin’ to be had.”

It kicks off tonight in the Schaumburg location, and the downtown Chicago spot hosts events the rest of the week.

Monday through Thursday there are slurp-off contests. They start at 6pm, and each night’s winner gets to participate in the Grand Slurp-Off on Friday night.

Tuesday and Thursday there will be live blues music, and Friday is the big tent party. They close off Hubbard Street and live bands perform. Here’s the full schedule:

4:30PM Chicago’s Best & Fastest Shucker an on-stage shuck-off between 12 local shuckers from area restaurants. This year’s Oyster Hall of Fame inductee and 3-time Canadian shucking champion, Patrick McMurray will also be competing for top honors. Winner receives a check for $500

5:15PM Wayne Baker Brooks
Live Blues On-Stage

7:30PM Slurp-O-Rama on-stage with Lin Brehmer hosting the National Slurp-Off Competition Finals – a $1000 check awaits the champion from Master Card as well as top bragging rights for a year. Competitors from Seattle, Canada and Boston will be joining Chicago finalists slurping for the title.
