Save Grant Park

Lately there’s been a lot of huffing and puffing about plans to move the Chicago Children’s Museum to Daley Bicentennial Plaza in Grant Park. There’s already a field house below street level, a playlot, tennis courts, and an ice skating rink in the winter. These would be “displaced” by the new 100,000 square foot museum.

Grant Park is known as Chicago’s front yard, and is supposed to remain “free and clear” for the enjoyment of all. In recent years it’s been carved up some by the addition of Millennium Park & The Harris Theater. Alderman Reilly is trying to prevent another encroachment, and Mayor Daley thinks that’s just wrong and Reilly is against kids. It’s quite a battle of wills.

You can read more about it at SaveGrantPark.com, as well as send a message to your Alderman.
