See Chicago's sparkling holiday lights from above the city with Chicago Helicopter Experience

Chicago puts on a fantastic display of lights anytime, but especially during the holiday season. Great views abound, but the best possible view is from high above the city. This year, Chicago Helicopter Experience offers a special Holiday Lights Tour to amaze and delight you with Chicago’s sparkling displays.

Theresa Carter (founder of The Local Tourist) and I were lucky enough to be invited along for one of the tours and we both agree that you must try this! I was thrilled, excited, and awed by the experience. It was my first time in a helicopter, but the skilled and friendly staff at Chicago Helicopter Experience put me instantly at ease. You will never see Chicago from a better vantage point.

The special holiday tours will be available through January 3 and feature sky-high views of the glittering lights along the Magnificent Mile, the festive Zoo Lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo, the towering Christmas tree and lights at Millennium Park and the iconic, sparkling Chicago skyline and lakefront.

Here’s a bonus for kids! Santa will make a surprise visit every weekend throughout the holiday season to pilot the holiday lights tours so kids of all ages can fly with Santa and tell him their holiday wishes.

If you happen to miss out on the special holiday tours, you can still have a fantastic experience on their regular tours. Chicago Helicopter Experience offers daytime, twilight, and evening tours throughout the year – weather permitting. Although they try never to cancel, the general rule of thumb is “if you can’t see the city, then we can’t fly around in it.” Be sure to check the weather carefully and stay in touch with them after you book your tour. There’s also an option for private helicopter tours, a perfect way in impress someone on that first date or for a special occasion.
