Lakeview favorite Southport Grocery & Cafe has been serving up farm to table breakfasts and baked goods for the last ten years. To celebrate they’re now offering dinner on Thursday and Friday evenings.
Just like the products in their grocery, the cuisine in the restaurant is locally sourced and seasonal so expect the menu to change frequently. Some items they’re serving now include a smoked scallop pancake served with fried rice noodles, soy maple and bonito flakes, and an apple salad made with Mick Klug apples, pickles pears, kale, smoked onion marmalade, peppered pecans, and vintage gouda. Their Amish chicken, pictured above, is placed on a ragout made of local butternut squash, cipollini, and foraged mushrooms. They’re also offering a limited selection of wines, craft beers, and craft cocktails to accompany your meal.
Dinner is available from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. You can make reservations by calling 773-665-0100 and they also accept walk-ins.
