Summer in the Midwest means State Fairs, and State Fairs mean fair food. Downtown Chicago restaurant Hoyt’s is playing on that theme with their new summer menu. The standard fried cheese curds are given a twist with tomato bacon jam, and corn dogs turn into Kobe beef corn dogs with green peppercorn mustard. Satisfy your sweet tooth with doughnuts dusted with pink peppercorn sugar and fried whiskey ice cream with butter toffee nuts.
Speaking of whiskey, they’ve also got new cocktails, including Grandma’s Whiskey Float. They start with Goose Island root beer, throw in a shot of Wild Turkey, and top it with whiskey gelato. You can also “Finn”ish your meal with Huckleberry Lemonade. You can almost feel the porch swing as you sip on this drink made with “fresh lemonade infused with young ginger, thyme and lemongrass, mashed huckleberries, Bombay Sapphire and a champagne floater”.
Starters and desserts range from $7 to $9, and cocktails start at $13. Hoyt’s is located in the Hotel 71 at 71 E Wacker Dr.
