Summer's ultimate patio sippers at Roka Akor

Here’s a summer cocktail quiz.

What is the best-selling alcohol in the world?

Chances are, you didn’t answer Soju . . . but if you had, then you would be correct!  Though relatively unknown to the American palate, Soju is a Korean beverage that is a distilled, vodka-like, rice liquor with higher alcohol content than most spirits. Rich in history, Soju was first known to have been distilled around 1300 A.D.

Chicago’s largest Soju seller, Roka Akor, has rolled out a new summer cocktail menu to highlight this amazing and versatile beverage.  They have created a brand new lineup of infused Soju from the restaurant’s expert team of mixologists in partnership with TY KU Sake and Spirits to create some of summer’s ultimate patio sippers.

Roka Akor’s infused Soju selection includes unique and creative flavors including:

Signature Infusions

  • Mango Thai Chili
  • Black Cherry Peppercorn
  • Chocolate Cranberry

Seasonal Infusions

  • Strawberry Balsamic Basil
  • Blueberry & Ginger
  • Raspberry & Mint

Guests at Roka Akor will also be able to imbibe in the infused Soju in handcrafted cocktails like Roka Akor’s Drunken MonkKiuri or Soju Smash as well as by the glass. Late night lounge guests can also opt for Soju bottle service.

I was recently invited to try all of the summer Soju infusions and all of them were superb.  My favorites were the Strawberry Balsamic Basil and the Chocolate Cranberry, but by all means, stop by Roka Akor more than once this summer to try them all.  This was my first experience with the world’s best-selling liquor, but it will not be my last.
