Sunday is Mother's Day, but Saturday is Mother Earth Day

Saturday there a few ways you can say thanks to your mother – Mother Earth.

Chicago’s Green City Market is back outside this week and opens at 7am Saturday morning. Many of Chicago’s top chefs stop at this sustainable market to stock their kitchens, so you’ll want to get there early. Who knows who you might be fighting with for that perfect piece of produce!

The Chicago River is an integral part of Chicago’s daily life, work, and personality. Say thanks for all it does for us by joining in Chicago River Day. You can pick up trash, clean up trails, remove intrusive plants, and plant seedlings. There are also workshops you can participate in. Many of the sites are closed but a still are few available. Afterwards there’s a festival to reward you for all of your hard work.

Soak in Chicago’s lakefront with Climate Cycle. Ride your bike along Lake Michigan, then savor the post-ride celebration next to Soldier Field. Enjoy live music while checking out tons of green exhibits, including ZipCar, Recycle Me, Working Well Massage.

Sounds like when you say thanks to Mother Earth, she thanks you back!
