One of the hardest parts of publishing a website is advertising. Most of your time is spent on content, because if there’s no content then there’s no reason to visit your website and if nobody’s visiting your website, well, who would want to advertise? Then when you get enough traffic to earn not only visitors’ but also business’ trust you have to make sure that those businesses offer something your visitors actually want or else they’ll get annoyed and won’t come back. It ain’t easy, I tell ya’.
That’s why I was thrilled when The Local Tourist was invited to join the Chicago Independent Ad Network. This is a collection of fifteen websites that focus on local communities, the city and the region. You have to be voted in so standards are kept high. It is an honor to be included with these sites that I personally and professionally respect:
- Beachwood Reporter
- Center Square Journal
- Catalyst Chicago
- Chicago News Cooperative
- Chicago Reporter
- Community Media Workshop
- Edgeville Buzz
- Evanston Now
- Gapers Block
- The Local Tourist
- Mindful Metropolis
- Neighborhood Parents Network
- Reel Chicago
- Roscoe View Journal
- Windy Citizen
Collectively we serve over a million impressions a month, all to people who want to know what’s going on in Chicago.
It’s a pretty big deal.
The network ads will go live on November 1. I’m proud to be part of it. If you’re a business that wants to reach our citywide audience, contact Kathy Chapman at (773)966-2720.
