There’s tapas, and then there’s TAPAS. Mercat a la Planxa has the latter. Let’s put it this way: Executive Chef Jose Garces won Iron Chef. He’s rarely there, but that’s OK because Chef de Cuisine Michael Fiorello certainly knows his own way around a skillet. I “gastro-tweeted” a meal there and it was one of my favorite experiences of 2009.

Lunch
Their normal Lunch Express menu. It’s already inclusive, and for this week they’re throwing in dessert (get the croquestas de xocolata. You’ll thank me.)

- Truita de Patata con Espinacas: Spanish Omelette with Spinach, Potatoes & Saffron Aioli
SECOND COURSE:
- Costillas de Ternera Coca: Beef Short Ribs, Horseradish, Parmesan & Bacon
- Gambas al Ajillo: Garlic Shrimp
- Datiles con Almendras: Bacon-Wrapped Dates Stuffed with almonds
THIRD COURSE:
- Mar I Muntanya: Slow Cooked Short Ribs and Diver Scallops, Eggplant Purée, Shave Parmesan Artichokes
- Prawns a la Planxa
- Coles de Bruselas: Warm Brussels Sprouts Salad with Bacon, Garbanzo Beans, French Feta & Orange-Sherry Vinaigrette
- Patatas Bravas: Spicy Potatoes with Spicy Paprika Aioli
