Tom & Eddie's gets “Dressed To The Nines”

Take a couple of former McDonald’s execs, put ’em in the western suburbs of Chicago, and what do you get? Tom & Eddie’s!

This new burger place is not what you’d expect from Mickey D vets. Cara Carriveau told me they stopped by the WTMX studios yesterday and she was blown away by their burgers. One of her favorites was the Islander, made of Ahi Tuna (pictured). See? Not what you’d expect at all.

Neither are their promotions, which start today with their grand opening. From the moment they open their doors at 10am until Tuesday, September 7, they’ve got deals and contests ranging from a free meal if you wear a tux or an evening gown, to a classic car show during “American Classic: Tried & True” Day, to giveaways of iPods and iPhones on “An Apple A Day” Day.

Friday, Aug. 27
•       One lucky person will win a weekly burger meal (entrée, side and drink) for the rest of his or her life.
•       80 people will win a weekly burger meal (entrée, side and drink) for a year. Every nine minutes, beginning at 10 a.m. a name will be drawn
•       “Race for the Taste” Indy car simulator – The driver with the fastest time every hour will receive a burger meal (entrée, side and drink). Fastest time for the day will receive free tickets to the Peak Antifreeze Indy 300 at the Chicagoland Speedway on Aug. 28.

Friday, Aug. 27 thru Saturday Sept. 4
•       “Dressed to the Nines” For Tom & Eddie’s’ first nine days of operation, any guest who is “dressed to the nines” in formal wear – a tuxedo or evening gown – will receive a free meal (entrée, side and drink). Business attire is not eligible.

Saturday, Aug. 28 – Blue Chip Day features the Blue Chip burger and blue poker chips to play Plinko for great prizes. “Race for the Taste” with the Indy simulator car continues from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 4 to 7 p.m. Winners will receive free Tom & Eddie’s meals.

Sunday, Aug. 29 – Triple Play Day features three different mini burgers for $3, and $3 beers. From 3 – 6 p.m., a bags tournament, one for kids, one for adults, will take place. Winners get (what else?) free burger meals. “Race for the Taste” with the Indy simulator car continues from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Winners will receive free Tom & Eddie’s meals.

Monday, Aug. 30 – Dessert-Ed Island Day features the Islander burger. Anyone who orders The Islander will receive a free dessert and a beach towel, while supplies last.

Tuesday, Aug. 31 – Perfect Pairs Day features the Ampersand burger. Anyone who orders the Ampersand pays only $5 with a $5 coupon for a return visit.

Wednesday, Sept. 1 – Love Me Dew Day – Come in and meet the people from Pepadew. They make the sweet piquanté peppers used in the Love Me Dew burger. A free Make-Your-Own-Sundae event features premium toppings such as Hopes cookies.

Thursday, Sept. 2 – Tom & Country Day – Anyone ordering the soon-to-be-famous turkey burger will receive a free $10 iTunes card while supplies last. Winners of a bags tournament for kids and adults will receive a free shake. The winning team will receive free meals. From 5 – 9 p.m. live country music will entertain customers.

Friday, Sept. 3 – American Classic: Tried & True Day – The first 20 people to order the Tried & True burger will receive free movie tickets while supplies last. From 4 – 8 p.m., Tom & Eddie’s will host a classic car show in its parking lot.

Saturday, Sept. 4 – An Apple a Day Day – Order the Bushel & a Peck burger and enter drawings to win Apple products such as iPods, iPhones, etc.

Sunday, Sept. 5 – Green is Good features the edamame burger called the Yin & Yang and get a key lime shake for free, while supplies last.

Tuesday, Sept. 7 – Bella Baby Day – By ordering the Baby Bella & Swiss burger, a kid’s meal will be free. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., free baby pictures will be taken by a professional photographer.
