On January 24, 1935, just over a year after the end of prohibition, the first canned beers were served and sold. This day is now celebrated as National Beer Can Day. (Hey, if there’s a National Bacon Day there should be a National Beer Can Day.)
Timothy O’Toole’s, 622 N Fairbanks, is celebrating with $2 beers. Stop in any time on January 24 and celebrate the 78th birthday of canned beer with these fine examples:
- Miller High Life
- Hamm’s
- Miller Lite
- Coors Light
- Brooklyn Lager
- Ska Modus Hoperandi
- Red Hook Longhammer IPA
- New Belgium Shift Lager
While you’re there, fuel up on their Irish nachos or their Goat Cheese Quesadillas.
