The inaugural Windy City Film Festival is coming to the beautiful Mercury Theatre in Chicago June 30 – July 2, and we’ve got your tickets! Enter below for your chance to win a pair of VIP all-access weekend passes.
The festival will showcase 76 film screenings including a number of world and Chicago Premieres. Over 100 participating filmmakers & actors are scheduled to appear for various audience Q&A sessions following each film block.
Co-Festival Directors, Josh Hope and Mindy Fay Parks are bringing this amazing event to the city this weekend. It will feature several featured films and many film shorts in different categories: comedy, drama, WTF, animation, doc, sci-fi & fantasy and Chicago shorts, along with music videos. Featured films include Empty Spaces, Funeral Day, Kopy Kings and Service To Man.
On Friday, June 30 from 5 pm – 7 pm, there will be an Industry Meet & Greet Party. It will be held at the Mercury Theatre. At this event, the public can mingle with the filmmakers and actors in attendance. Two local businesses are also coming out to this event; FEW Distillery and FRIO Gelato will both be running tasting tables.
On Sunday, they’ll have an awards brunch that is only open to attending filmmakers and their guests.
Co-Festival Director Parks says, “Josh and I wanted to bring a new fest to Chicago because we have heard over and over again from our filmmaker and actor colleagues that work here in the city that they can never find a “home” to screen their locally made work. Almost all of the other fests in Chicago are genre specific, or are very difficult for a new indie filmmaker to get into (with high submission fees to boot). So, we wanted to create a fest that would be a good home for locally-made, quality indie film and bring international and nation-wide filmmakers into Chicago to create a networking opportunity for our local artists. All while celebrating indie film, of course!”
