World Boxing Championships come to Chicago

Almost 700 boxers from all over the world will be marching up State Street Monday afternoon. They’re in town for the AIBA World Boxing Championships, which are taking place at UIC Pavilion through November 3. This is an opening qualifier for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

State Street between Adams and Wacker will be closed from 2:30 until about 6:30pm. The east-west streets will be open until 3:30, and the procession begins at 4. Bus routes will, of course, be rerouted.
